Overview Of Little Stars Play School

The school adopts the Montessori Method of teaching, aiming for the fullest possible development of the whole child, ultimately preparing one for life's many rich experiences. Montessori is based on the philosophy of education based upon actual observations of children. Children pass through sensitive periods of development early in life. It is described that the child's mind between the time of birth and six years of age as the "absorbent mind". It is during this stage that a child has a tremendous ability to learn and assimilate from the world around him, without conscious effort. During this time, children are particularly receptive to certain external stimuli.

A Montessori teacher thus recognizes and takes advantage of these highly perceptive stages through the introduction of materials and activities which are specially designed to stimulate the intellect. Encouraged to focus her attention on one particular quality, the child works at her own optimum level – in an environment where beauty and orderliness are emphasized and appreciated. A spontaneous love of "work" is revealed as the child is given the freedom within boundaries to make her own choices.

Play Group

The play group is designed to include children aged 1 ½ years to 2 ½ years of age. Children learn from new experiences, hence activities like dance, music, singing, imaginative free play, art and craft, storytelling, field trips are designed. Based on these activities, focus is given to impart social skills, sharing and cooperation among friends, getting adjusted to simple routines and following them, following simple commands.

Pre KG

Children aged between 2 ½ years to 3 ½ years are included in this program. Activities in this group are designed to make the children school ready. Therefore children are introduced to writing, counting, number recognition, simple problem solving in a fun filled and purposeful manner. Focus is also given on rhymes singing and enacting simple words as part of their rhyme and story session. The children are encouraged to be more vocal and expressive about their ideas and thoughts.

Kindergarten

The Kindergarten group will be divided into Junior KG (LKG) and Senior KG (UKG) representing the age group of 3 ½ years – 4 ½ years and 4 ½ years – 5 ½ years respectively. In both the classes, children will be introduced to subjects like English (Language), Math (Cognitive), Practical Life (Dealing with concepts necessary to face daily life), EVS (Introduction to History, Geography, Botany, Zoology & Science), Arts and Craft , Bhajan and Dance. In all of the above mentioned teaching areas, Montessori Method is adopted and hence activities are designed in a broad manner to facilitate each child’s interest and capability; and keeping in mind not to lose focus on spotting the child’s natural ability.

Day Care

Daycare facility is available for Little Stars students & for outside students aged above 1.5 Years.
